Gregg Polinsky’s Future Star Basketball Camp enters its 16th successful year of entertaining and educating children with basketball instruction and competition. Polinsky (“Coach P”) combines his years as a player, college coach and National Basketball Association (NBA) Scout into a regime of discipline, leadership, sportsmanship and physical skills for boys and girls between the ages of 7 and 14. The atmosphere is fun, fast-paced and friendly. The benefits are confidence, competitiveness, and camaraderie. In addition, campers benefit from Coach P’s motivation and enthusiasm for the game as well as appearances from former NCAA Division I college stars. It is the perfect summertime solution for active children who want to learn, play, and meet other children from around the community.
Athletes of all abilities are encouraged to attend. At the camp, they’re divided by age and placed into different leagues where they get one-on-one instruction, compete against each other in various drills, and join together in five-on-five team play. Players on each team play approximately the same amount of time in these league games throughout the week.
About Coach P – Currently in his 19th season with the Brooklyn Nets, where he is Director of Player Personnel, Coach P has been around the game for 41 years as a player, coach and scout. Known for his exceptional eye for talent, Coach P has been an assistant coach at both the University of Texas and the University of Alabama, where he served on the staffs of Wimp Sanderson and David Hobbs. During his nine years at Alabama, the team appeared in seven NCAA Tournaments and won four Southeast Conference (SEC) Championships. He also served as the head coach of the NCAA Division I Georgia Southern Eagles. While a college coach, he recruited and/or coached such future NBA stars as Michael Ansley, Keith Askins, David Beniot, Jason Caffey, Jim Farmer, Robert Horry, Antonio McDyess, Derrick McKey, James Robinson, Roy Rogers and Latrell Sprewell.
